The adoption of the ordinance 2004/1935/EC (repeal 89/109/EEC) and the change in the EC directive 2002/72/EC by the 2004/19/EC raise a series of new questions, whose answers are of great interest to the industry.
It can be assumed that the current situation will become more intense if it comes to the expected amendment of the Plastic Directive by the so-called Super-Regulation (EMB 993) within the European Union. Here, specific migration limits are expected for all substances which are neither positively listed nor toxicologically rated.
In consequence, this will make the inspection of a variety of substances in packaging material necessary. It is the responsibility of the packaging material manufacturer to allow the examination of his printing samples by independent, accredited institutes to guarantee conformity.
For a safe application of our products we offer competent technical advice. By means of our innovative new developments in the UV area it should be possible for our customers to reach conformity with applying regulations for the indirect contact with foodstuffs.
