Coatings for flexo printing

In flexo printing, more and more high qualities are realised and finishing becomes increasingly important. Correspondingly, ACTEGA Terra has developed high-quality coatings for flexo printing. Depending on the production method, different coatings are used.

Post-Print
Besides their transport and packaging functions, transport packaging, sales packaging or displays made of corrugated board also provide a promotional effect. In flexo post-printing, it is printed directly on the outer face of the corrugated board. The coating provides the printed product with the required gloss or high gloss as well as with the necessary scratch and scuff resistance. Like this, it guarantees a perfect appearance at the point of sale. Coatings are characterised by a very fast drying, so that high machine speeds can be realised, and the die-cutted printed products can be further processed without any problems.

Pre-Print
For high volumes and special quality requirements, flexo pre-printing is an alternative. Here, the outer cover is printed from reel to reel and then glued to the corrugated sheets in order to become corrugated board. Glueing and drying is done under the influence of heat. Therefore, coatings for pre-printing are especially adapted to heat resistance. In addition, they provide all important properties, such as a defined gloss, scratch and scuff resistance, wet block resistance and a fast drying.

Reel to reel/die cutter
Apart from printed products made of corrugated board, there are various other printed products made of paper and board that are printed and coated in the flexo process. Production is implemented either from reel to reel or alternatively directly inline from reel to die cutter. Also here the coating guarantees high-quality and optimal printed products.

For special coating requirements in flexo printing barrier coatings, antislip coatings and heat resistant coatings are also available.
