Gold and silver coatings
Gold and silver coatings develop their effect through small metal lamina which reflect light as a mirror. While silver coatings contain
aluminum lamina, gold coatings sparkle through a copper/zinc mixture.
These waterbased metallic coatings are applied inline and offer
an effective possibility for metallic finishing. A common processing
method is to provide the already printed and out of the
first coating unit fully coated substrate with a metallic coating
applied partially (spot) out of the second coating unit (double
coating unit necessary). If efficiency and ecology are in focus,
metallic coatings are an alternative to foil stamping.
TerraEffekt gold and silver coatings convince by their outstanding
coverage, a striking brilliance and a very high edge definition.
They are provided with a good scratch and scuff resistance and
very good running characteristics on the press.
TerraEffekt gold and silver coatings were developed in different
colors for application before and after printing. The program
offers a non-leafing version for application before printing that
shows a very good overprintability with conventional colors.
