Blister coatings
Blister packaging is a classic in self-service packaging. In case of this visual packaging, the customer can already identify the contents
of the packaging at the point of sale. Outstanding protection against environmental impacts, combined with very good hygiene
properties, make blister packaging popular for many items.
Blister packaging consists of two elements, the printed and coated
blister card (mostly of board) and the plastic blister. In a sealing
process, the blister card and the blister are combined with each
other by pressure and heat. The coating film and the blister soften,
melt into each other and form a compound. The coating is the
bonding agent between blister card and blister.
To ensure that this sensitive process functions without
problems, ACTEGA Terra has developed highly-specialized blister
coatings, which have achieved a leading position on the market.
According to sealing process and materials different coatings are
recommended. The sealing temperatures are between 180 °C
and 220 °C. Because in case of the sealing process, the hot tool
comes into contact with the rear side of the printed and coated
blister card, we recommend heat resistant coatings for the rear
side.
