Calendar coatings
In some segments, packaging must represent the filled goods as realistically as possible in order to convince at the point of sale.
With hair colorings for example, as well as the color it is also a question of the highest gloss - for the hair and therefore also for
the packaging.
Calendar coatings are designed for maximum gloss. They
outperform UV coatings in their gloss and almost cannot be
distinguished from a film lamination. In addition, they convince
through their odor neutrality and taste neutrality.
Calendar coatings can be processed in sheet-fed offset (coating
unit), on an offline coating machine, as well as from the calendar
(coating unit before calender). During the calendaring, the printed
product runs through a calendar in a subordinate production
step. Between the heated calendar cylinders (alternatively band
cylinders) the coating is melted. The surfaces are optimally
polished by the simultaneously applied pressure. Through this
smoothing, it develops the highest level of gloss.
TerraWet calendar coatings are the first choice if maximum gloss has to be combined with optimal sensoric results
