Coatings for sheet-fed offset, ink duct
If a printing press is not provided with any coating unit, the use of the ink duct for the coating application is an alternative. Instead
of the processing of oil based coatings, high viscosity waterbased coatings are provided for the ink duct.
These coatings are designed especially to the ink duct. Unlike
oil based coatings, they are not applied via damping/fountain
solution but using a coating blanket. For the optimal distribution
in the rollers they are correspondingly delayed in the drying. On
the sheet their drying is fast.
The advantage of waterbased coatings out of the ink duct
compared to oil based coatings is, among other things, the lower
tendency to yellowing and better odor and taste neutrality.
