Since early March 2020, there has been a dramatic increase in COVID-19 infection rates across North America.
Although company-wide ACTEGA travel to customers, suppliers, business partners, and between ACTEGA facilities has stopped until conditions improve, ACTEGA has initiated local community and industry-facing efforts to support a flattening of the COVID-19 infection rate curve.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, ACTEGA surface chemists, mechanical, electrical and IT systems engineers along with market-facing staff, who normally work in a multidisciplinary applications development setting, have adjusted their work schedules and projects to adapt to today’s current crisis conditions and needs. Laboratory activities are now conducted through a controlled rotation of a minimal number of paired staff members from pre-designed lab areas. Any test work or analysis that can be accomplished with portable equipment or with a laptop is completed from home.
“ACTEGA is committed to supporting its local communities, keeping its employees safe and finding ways to either directly or tangentially support the markets that it serves in these exceptional times.
Mark Westwell CEO ACTEGA North America
Volunteering does not always have to take the form of hands-on engineering and formulating know-how. It can also be structured to help create market place goodwill and brand identity. For example, ACTEGA’s market-facing team is also leveraging its co-supplier and industry trade association connections to help source critically needed packaging materials for distillery members of the American Craft Spirits Association that have chosen to switch to producing hand sanitizer. According to Tony Carignano, ACTEGA’s Technical Director of Marketing for Crystal Decorating Technology “Knowledge sharing demonstrates mindfulness of being a good industry partner. It supports a well-integrated value chain and helps it to thrive in times of crisis.”
