Lehrte, 16th of September 2019 – Following the motto "Focus on labels", ACTEGA will present technical innovations, sustainable technologies and an extensive portfolio of overprint varnishes and primers at Label Expo 2019. In hall 7, booth A 37, interested visitors will find a broad selection of new printed samples for in-mold and pressure sensitive labels. Whether LED UV applications, coatings for thermal transfer printing, metallic look or 3D effect, numerous matt and gloss coatings, functional coatings, effect coatings or primers are available. In addition, ACTEGA presents the current state of development of ECOLEAF, which offers unlimited possibilities for decorative finishing of printed products.

Creative metallic effects
New in the ACTEGA portfolio are MiraMetal® UV silver and gold coatings as well as oil-based metallic inks. Products are available in a wide variety of gold shades and silver, also new are solutions for the indirect food contact. "We recommend MiraFoil® UV silver coatings as a sustainable alternative to film lamination or hot foil stamping," explains Andre Soterio, Segment Manager Labels Europe. "These products are overprintable and perfectly suited for use on premium labels such as wine labels."

Coatings for thermal transfer printing
New product solutions with thermal transfer functionality enable the subsequent printing of labels. Examples are expiry dates, product labels, barcodes or personalization. Available are UV coatings and those that can be used in LED UV technology. A live demonstration at the ACTEGA booth in hall 7 will give visitors the opportunity to experience the corresponding coatings in action.

Creating revolutionary metallization effects with ECOLEAF
ACTEGA Metal Print presents the current state of development of ECOLEAF, a technology that has been in the industrialization process at ACTEGA since 2017 and that will be commercially available as of drupa 2020. ECOLEAF enables metallization without film, thus improving the sustainability of the associated processes. By coloring the trigger image, it is possible to create unique metallic effects, which represents a new category of metallization.

ACTEGA Metal Print was founded in February 2017 with a mission to revolutionize graphic arts with a sustainable metallization technology that significantly reduces the amount of material, waste, cost and production time for creating decorative embellishments compared to today’s conventional processes that are mainly foil-based. To achieve this mission, ACTEGA acquired Nano-Metallography™, a unique technology that was first unveiled at the drupa 2016 print exhibition by Benny Landa, founder of the Landa Group. This game-changing technology, now called “ECOLEAF will be commercially available at drupa 2020.
