This portfolio features low migration UV coatings, encompassing both standard and specialty products. These coatings are specifically developed for use on food packaging, ensuring indirect contact with dry and fat-containing foodstuffs without the use of a functional or absolute barrier. Use of highly reactive raw materials
A very important feature of WESSCO® FCM is the use of high-molecular and/or polymerizable photoinitiators. As a result, these are much less likely to migrate into the packaged food. In addition, the coatings are based on higher acrylic monomers for strong cross-linking. They deliberately do not contain benzophenone, 4-methylbenzophenone, bisphenol A and TMPTA.
This makes WESSCO® FCM the perfect choice when it comes to enhancing and protecting sensitive food packaging.
We expect the German Ink Ordinance to become the European industry standard for food packaging in the medium term.

Innovative Coatings for Food Contact Materials
WESSCO® FCM coatings have been specially developed to meet the requirements of the German Printing Ink Ordinance (GIO) for coated food contact materials.
The ordinance aims to protect the health of consumers. It regulates the migration of potentially hazardous substances that come into direct or indirect contact with food. To this end, it contains a positive list of substances and corresponding migration limits.
Although it is commonly referred to as the “German Printing Ink Ordinance”, it regulates printed food contact materials (FCM), including UV coatings.
