Recognition at the Sustainable Packaging Summit

FINAT Sustainability Award for ECOLEAF

ACTEGA proudly announces its win at the FINAT Sustainability Awards 2024, held during the Sustainable Packaging Summit in Amsterdam. The recognition in the category “Reduction of Environmental Impact” highlights ACTEGA’s innovative ECOLEAF technology, which redefines the metallization process for labels by offering both the highest printing performance and a demonstrably better CO₂ footprint than traditional methods.

The Awards, organized by FINAT, the international association for the European label industry, celebrated outstanding contributions to sustainability within the label sector. This year, 28 entries were received across two categories: Reduction of Environmental Impact and Optimization of Recycling. The entries showcased innovations spanning the entire label value chain, such as adhesive formulations, printing inks, metallization technologies, recycling methods and specific packaging solutions. Submissions were evaluated by an independent panel of industry experts, who assessed each entry for its innovation and impact on advancing sustainability.

In addition to taking part in the awards ceremony, ACTEGA participated as an exhibitor in the Sustainable Packaging Summit, hosted by Packaging Europe. The summit provided a platform for industry leaders to explore and discuss advancements in sustainable packaging technologies. Visitors had the opportunity to meet the ACTEGA team and learn about ECOLEAF and the company's other latest innovations.

At the Summit, ACTEGA presented not only the award-winning ECOLEAF technology but also its portfolio of sustainable water-based barrier coatings. These are designed to protect packaging against internal and external substances, such as oil, grease or water, while ensuring that packaging retains its structural integrity and aesthetic appeal throughout its lifecycle. Another focus was on the unique heat seal coating system for aluminum menu trays that eliminates the need for extrusion and film lamination while providing a meat-release effect. Additionally, ACTGreen^® PROVALIN^® was showcased as a PVC- and plasticizer-free compound for metal vacuum closures, setting new, revolutionary migration standards for food safety and consumer protection. The innovative Signite^® decoration technology was also highlighted, combining zero-waste printing techniques with state-of-the-art application machinery. By showcasing this great variety of cutting-edge solutions for packaging for different applications, ACTEGA underscored its commitment to innovation and sustainability.
